Airframed is a collecting game for aircraft. Photograph a plane, and the app
works out what it was.

Identification needs a connection; capture does not. A pending catch is saved
and waiting, not lost — it identifies itself the next time the app is open with
a signal. Nothing is re-photographed and nothing is charged twice.
If it stays pending with a good connection, open the Logbook and pull to
refresh, or reopen the app.
That is an answer rather than a failure, so it is not asked again — the same
photo would get the same reply. It usually means the aircraft was too small,
too distant, too dark, or mostly out of frame. Photograph it again closer and
the new photo is treated as a new catch.
The app only records a registration it could actually read on the airframe. It
never guesses one, because a guessed registration would merge two different
aircraft into one catch. A catch without a readable registration still counts
as a type, a family and a rarity — it just is not pinned to an individual
aircraft.
Rarity is counted, not assigned: it comes from how many airframes of that type
are actually flying. Some types are common where you live and scarce globally,
which is what the grade reflects.
On your phone, in the app's own storage, and in your photo library if you
granted permission. They are sent to Anthropic's Claude to identify the
aircraft and are not stored on the server. See the
There is a limit of 100 identifications per day per account. Photos taken after
that are saved and identify themselves the next day — nothing is lost.
Logbook → the ⋯ button, top right → Account. Sign out and account deletion
are both there. Deletion is real: sessions are revoked and the account record is
removed. Photos on your phone are yours and stay unless you delete them.
Yes — that is what it is built for. Capture needs nothing but the camera. Sign
in before you take off, because signing in does need a connection, and
everything after that queues until you land.
